Laptops :: DSL on a Compaq AMD64?



Hello, I have a Compaq R4012us and have been trying to install several distro's of linux on it over the past week with no success.  I was wondering, before I throw myself at DSL, has anyone gotten this to work on a laptop simmilar to mine?

AMD Athlon XP64 - 3200+
512 MB
80 GiG
DvD+/-/r/rw
15.4 inch
