Laptops :: pcmcia - boot problem
hi,
I read about damn small linux in a magazine and wanted to try it on my laptop, an Acer Aspire1691.
Booting from CD did work up to loading the kernel. Afterwards it tried to start a package for pcmcia and that's it. Disabling the pcmcia via boot option "dsl no{pcmcia}" had no effect.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
Not alot of information to work with there, but will aks some questions and maybe that will help. Keep in mind i'm a noob so all i'm doing is giving you the questions i'd be askin myself...disclaimer outta the way lol
Do you have any pcmcia cards in the machine?
If so have you tried booting without them?
Truely i'm not sure if thats a good line to try, but with the limited information and my limited ability thats best i could come up with, hopefully someone else will have some insight.

No, there weren't any pcmcia cards connected to the computer. However the machine just stopped the boot process after it detected that their is this pcmcia slot and tried to open a subpackage, don't know the name anymore, something like cardxx.
I had to reset the laptop and tried it, as I already mentioned, with this boot option, but it didn't work either!

is the command 'dsl nopcmcia' instead (without the quotes)
