Laptops :: Duel boot Jacks up some stuff
OK I originally put just DSL on my pananic CF-25 hd install. Got the videocard working fine and sound working fine. So I got the bright idea of duel boot with windows. formatted then installed wndows. Then resized the windows partition using mandrake disk 1. Made a 250 meg swap which left 1.6 gig for DSL. Reinstalled DSL. installed the videocard (everything going good video was fine) Installed the dkpg package and gui. then the problem came. installed sound the way I did before. It worked on boot. then I went into windows to do something and rebooted back into DSL. saw an error while loading sound that said it could not load mixer volume or something like that. Tried reloading the sound about 25 times and rebooting. kept getting the same error. So I went back to the drawing board formatted the drive again and installed DSL. Installed the video fine. then installed sound and once again it worked fine. I do believe that windows put something in the MBR to jack up that sound. But its just a guess I could be wrong. Anyone have any ideas on this?
so windancer.. have stack here of toughbooks.. cf-25s, 27s, & 71s.. my 25 here is 2g hdd, 133mhz cpu, and just 16megs ram.. i added 233swap on hdd during hdd install.. ahem.. accomplished via dropping the hdd into 1 of the 27s since this 25's bios wouldnt boot to cd and i dont have any floppy for the its bay.. so alls fine EXCEPT booting to gui desktop here..
ive tried all settings offered by xsetup.sh here.. both Xfbdev and all the available Xvesa configs too.. if you've any ideas ill add you to my 'when i win the lottery bygod! list ;]]
thanks..
