Laptops :: laptop hangs on boot

I have a toshiba satellite laptop and when I boot to the cdrom it hangs on probing scsi. I then typed dsl no{scsi} at the boot prompt, but it still hangs. I then tried failsafe mode and that worked but I couldn't get my mouse to work. Any suggestions?

I've got a Satelite Pro 4600 and on DSL 2.2b it hangs on pcmcia detection, so try "nopcmcia"
