You can add that line to your /opt/bootlocal.sh file.

You can edit it by Right-clicking on the Beaver desktop icon and choose "Beaver as super user".

Don't add the "sudo su" line, just the one that starts with modprobe

Not sure about the choppy play on your /dev/sda2 drive. Maybe your USB controller is using the same interrupt as your sound card?

I suppose you could copy the mp3 files into your ram disk (/home/dsl) and then play them from there.

I would copy them over to the HDD but I dont have the space for the amount of files that I would be playing. How do I change the interupt to see if that works?
I have a theory on the sound. I had to add the USB HDD to fstab manualy then create the folders in /mnt myself. I cant open them as DSL but as root. How can I fix that so that dsl can open them and that should fix the problem. I hope...
Further analyisis(sp?) reveals that it has trouble decoding MP3s, OGG, etc. I copied a MP3 over to the HDD and had the same problem.
Your sound problem most likely has to do with IRQ or DMA settings.  Before version 2.2 for my sound I used SB pro irq=7 dma=0. other settings for SB would produce the choppy sound you are experiencing.  After I installed 2.2 those settings would not work.  I am now using regular SB irq=5 dma=1 any other setting produces choppy sound.  Try some different options and see what happens.
