After playing around with DSL in QEMU on my desktop I decided to install it on my 'slightly antique' laptop, a ~300MHz Pentium with 64MB RAM. It's currently running XP Pro, albeit very slowly, so with DSL I assume it'll fly.
Burned a CD with DSL 2.3, put in laptop, booted up, found USB, Winmoden, sound card, floppy etc. but just stops after this:
Code Sample
xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority
No error messages, it just sits there sulking
Help!Boot with one of the fb choices, like fb800x600 or if your laptop supports higher then use a higher resolution. The f2 and f3 keys will give you some clues as to what to use. You may also want to include apm=off. Thanks for replying so quickly, I tried "fb800x600" as that's the maximum resolution of the LCD. It works
I tried the dsl vga=xxx options before but they had little effect other than to bring up the X (?) config dialog.
