Laptops :: scan hard disk partitions

i'm trying installing dsl 2.3 on my laptop through floppy boot -> usb

it hangs up on scanning of hard disk partitions, after some minutes it enters in a loop. some errors on the screen that scrolls down fast. 0.o

i have free linux partitions on the system.
i'm noob, what i have to do?
(i have no cd, and tomsrtbt floppy doesn't load (to do a net install)! so I opted to floppy+usb)

Is your problem that the pc stops working after the line:
SCANNING FOR HARDDISK AND CREATING /ETC/FSTAB. . . ??

I have the same problem...
If you try with knoppix you can resolve the problem booting in failsafe, but with dsl this doesn't work :-(
