Laptops :: Thinkpad 600 and USB MOUSE

Hi all,i'm using DSL 2.3 with thinkpad 600.
All is ok,system is very fast.
Now i'm trying to use an optical USB mouse and in the same time to use trackball. I've tried to insert mouse at boot,but it's not recognized (the mouse led is on).
Someone can help me to setup this mouse?

Press CONTROL-ALT-BACKSPACE

Type:

xsetup.sh

Choose USB mouse

Type:

startx

This is a solution that isn't clean.
I'm asking for a solution that let me use usb mouse and trackball in the same time definitely.
Someone have other ideas?
