Greetings all .

You may want to try out Minix. ( minix.org)
The current iteration of minix is Minix 3 ( minix3.org )
meant specifically for old hardware. if the current version does not work, then the old version 2 will.

I plut this on a 386 Packard Bell that my wife had from before we were married.. it was a little slow but I had a good deal of fun with it.

One caveat in the older version of Minix.. you will need to recompile the kernel to include networking.. Its a fast fix which is well documented on the site. The people are also very helpful.

You might be able to run console based Linux on it if you can find one that will run from floppy.
