Laptops :: Yamaha soundcard, toshiba laptop...
...And I can't get it to work. I'm still fairly new to linux, and so far I've mainly used the self-configuring everything-is-compatible distros (Fedora, etc.). I'm running DSL on a Toshiba Satellite 315cdt laptop, with a Yamaha OPL3-SA3 sound chipset. I can't get this machine to make any sound beyond the system beeps. Any suggestions?
I'm experiencing the same problem on an Acer/Texas Extensa 503T with the same sound card.
At boot time I see that the card is well detected but then is loaded the wrong driver (ad1848 series).
Helps appreciated

There is some info.
Have you tried DSL 2.1b. It has worked on my two Toshibas, Protege 650CDT and Tecra 550CT. With 2.1b I downoaded alsa.dsl, then installed gnu-utils, placed "alsa" to load at boot time, rebooted, then ran alsa.dsl (took awhile to configure) and it worked flawlessly.
