Laptops :: ThinkPad 570 No Media install

Hi there!

I've bought a very cute IBM 570 and she hasn't got a docking station. So there is only an usb port on her but it's v1.0 and the bios hasn't got the ability to boot from there. No floppy, no cd, no ethernet... It's a serious risk to remove the harddrive, beause it has 2 bad pins on it's connector. I've tried it before and it's not gonna be worth. "Fortunately" there was a win98se installer on the disk, I set up a dcc and copied caos and dsl iso files on it. And now, I'm stucked. I tried to run basiclinux with baslin to prepare a partition, but it escapes with kernel panic every time. Could you tell me any ideas? The last chance is to remove the hdd again, and fix the connectors, but I don't realy want to do that.
