Laptops :: pcmcia with DSL 3.0.1 on toshiba portegé 7010ct
Hi folks,
I've done a frugal grub install on my Portege 7010ct
(Pentium II Dechutes 300 Mhz, 160 MB RAM, 512 MB HighSpeed CF-Card as HD using an IDE/CF adaptor, Neomagic graphics, snd_sb8 compatible soundcard)
At first I wasn't able to run or install DSL, then after appending nopcmcia, it worked.
But I need pcmcia to use my network cards
(wired rtl83too and wireless ralink rt2500)
when I try to modprobe yenta_socket, the system freezes
could this be a problem with
[] Toshiba laptop compatibility
not activated in the standard DSL kernel ?
If you are using a cardbus card in some machines the boot option pci=assign-busses may help.
hey hey, I didn't use your cheatcode, but it made me rethink the whole thing, I thought it might be an IRQ Problem and disabled serial and parallel ports in the BIOS, as I don't need 'em,
and I set the cardbus to Cardbus/16bit , before it was auto (second option is PCIC compatible), an now it works , I'm writing from my DSL notebook connceted by realtek 8139too wired netcard. I guess last thing mentioned wasn't the key, but the IRQ ...
:-)
Now I just need to get the wlan working ...
