Laptops :: resolution change for a libretto?
Hello!
I've got dsl running on an (old) toshiba libretto 100ct (166MHz, 2.1GB, 32MB) which has a screen with a native resolution of 800x480.
when i boot dsl, it uses a resolution of 800x600 and i can't see the bottom of the workspace! xvesa doesn't work (at all---colours go all funny), so i'm using the xfbdev thing, selected from grub. i have a hdd frugal install.
if you can think of a way i can make the resolution more usable, i'd be glad to hear it!
thanks!
Can you get that resolution by manually editing ~/.xserverrc ?
ah yes ok. i nanoed .xserverrc and added the parameter -screen 800x480x16, which i thought might do the trick, but no luck it's really annoying because in other respects, i'm quite impressed with dsl!
when i boot the machine, the only way i can get it to work even partly is to choose the option labelled DSL fb800x600... is there a way i can make a `DSL fb800x480' in grub?
thanks for your help

p.s., just examined grub a bit more closely, and there are the parameters `vga=somenumber'. does anyone know the code for 800x480??
ok: i think i've got a solution.
this page explains it:
http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/index.php/Vga%3Dxxx
and the code for the libretto 100ct, with an 800x480 screen with 24bit colour is 808.
enjoi!

Ah, didn't know you were booting in fb, but nice to know it works!
