Laptops :: DSL on Fujitsu Lifebook P2120
Hi all!
I have a chance to buy a Fujitsu Lifebook P2120 and I wonder if someone have installed and run DSL on it.
Are there loads of problems to expect or am I able to install and just be happy?
Is the advice to go for another type of laptop?
I will be happy for all advices and tips!
Many thanks!
Marcus
I usually try the live CD DSL to see if it boots and finds all the hardware I need first. I will try DSL and ubuntu just for comparison but ubuntu does not run will as live CD as it is too slow. DSL runs well as a live CD if you use the 'dsl toram' arguement (you need at least 128M or RAM for this option).
I have not had a chance to try on a P2120. But I have run DSL on several Transmeta Crusoe processor based systems, Sony and Sharp. The Sony Picturebook has only been a challenge because of its non standard screen size. But with XFree86.unc extension I got it working. I like these ultalight small notebooks.
at this moment i'm running dsl 3.0 on a P1120, so you should have no trouble... trying to remember how xfree86 is configured, after using x.org for so long now...
for anyone ever googling this post wondering how I did it: booted dsl on my desktop machine, did a zip100 install to a 64meg usb pendrive, and then used the floppy.img thingy to boot up from the pendrive, then hard drive install on a previously created linux partition I had over on hda7 from a failed mandrake linux install with mandrake floppies years ago... (confused? welcome to LINUX!!!)
