Laptops :: Thinkpad 240
The install was basically a breeze using the boot and pcmcia floppy images.
But I now need to get the network up. There's no onboard network so I have to use the pcmcia slot (which worked fine for the CD-ROM drive).
I've tried various wired and wireless cards to no avail. It seems that the pci subsystem just doesn't see the slot or its contents.
lspci reports: "can't open /proc/bus/pci/00/07:00" etc followed by "failed to read 64 bytes of configuration space".
Clues welcome.
Try various pci= bootcodes? Like pci=assign-busses..
To find a list google for kernel-parameters.txt
spot on, that seems to have done the trick as far as lspci is concerned anyway, thanks a lot.
now to get that dLink 650+ wireless card working with ndiswrapper...
FYI. the tp240 is the main machine for DSL development.
That's good to know! Personally I don't like to carry anything heavier about with me.
The next challenge, when I've got my two tp 240s working, is to resurrect the machine I had before them - a Toshiba Libretto 50.
