Laptops :: Compaq Armada M300 screen off

Hi,

I'd like to be able to turn off the screen on a Compaq Armada M300 laptop. I have tried:

But without success. I have removed the noacpi and noapm cheatcodes from the frugal install. What should I be looking into next?
