Laptops :: USB Dongles Not Recognized

1] Using a USB Microsoft mouse, DSL4.1 recognizes the mouse on boot. However, it will not recognize the USB mouse when I have the PS2 adapter on the mouse, plugged into the PS2 port.

2] DSL will recognize my USB drive on boot. However, it will not recognize the USB drive when I have the cable adapter/extender on the USB drive, plugged into the USB port.
