Laptops :: Acer Aspire One install & LAN

I just got an Acer Aspire One AOA 150-1777 portable computer.

Please help with frugal GRUB install, espcially network.

I did an install to USB flash-RAM "drive" from an existing
DSL 4.4.10 system on a desktop computer.

And booted the netbook from the USB drive.

But I can't connect either via Ethernt or wireless.

ifconfig -a shows only a lo with no Internet address.
