Laptops :: toshiba satellite 2715
i have a toshiba satellite with a tiny harddrive. the original hard drive crashed and the 1st replacement crashed too. so i bought a 700 MB harddrive for $5 from the local electronics surplus store and stuck it in hoping i'd be able to get DSL working on it.
i've got the latest version of DSL on CD. it boots up with the default settings and when it reaches the following lines, it hangs
xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority
any suggestions?
I have a similar problem, though the toshiba doesn't hang, first it has a failure on modprobe then it tries
xauth: creating new authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority
twice, then gives up without loading X, leaving me at the shell prompt.
Try booting up by entering fb800x600 at the boot: prompt you get
when DSL first starts up..
Let us know what happens .
If it works, you'll need some more info on xsetup.sh
Also , you can search the forums for " fb800x600 " or " toshiba "
