Laptops :: Boot

using my Compaq Presario laptop on boot everything seems togo through just fine but the screen goes blank and stays like it, the desktop never appears, It works fine on my pc at work and home. also I don't believe this is an isolated incidence as 2 other laptop (different brands are have the same problem), any ideas ? ? ?

Have you tried both Xvesa and Xfbdev? - many people on this forum has reported that only one of them works on their laptop.

Also try using the "dsl vga=normal" at the boot: prompt when DSL first boots up..
That works for my IBM 770 , with the XVesa 1024x768 options

the fb800x600 works well too....use lower bit settings for your graphics too...say 800x600 and 16bit
