Laptops :: Video Problems..

ok.. i have a Acer Extensa 710TE (Specs)

DSL can boot fine (i'm just doing this off of the live CD - it is not on the HD)
but it appears that i don't have enough memory for video?  everything has a green coloring to it and it is VERY hard to make out text.. i've tried changing the resolution a bit.. but it all looks the same no matter what resolution it is (although the res IS changing-i can see that... but i still get the green stuff and the text is hard to make out..)

I'm having the same problem - I have an IBM Thinkpad, Pentium 266 MMX with 64MB ram - any ideas?

I experienced the sickly green fx with the Neomagic magicgraph video chip on my (older) laptop too but got round it:  Have you tried setting the resolution at first 'live' boot prompt:  fb1024x768?  This skips past normal video autoconfiguration / menus until you get to the xserver selection menu. Try selecting the framebuffer option.  This should give you decent graphics.  Otherwise, hardware may be a bit tired.
