Actually, the correct syntax would be, "apt-get install wmapm". Then select the run command from the main menu and type "wmapm" plus enter, it should show up in the slit now.
Thanks but I think I screwed the pooch when I atempted debian distro and gcc .
But on the plus side I found that double clicking on the dock partition drive that is mounted will open midnight commander!

Damn Small Linux is like playing playstation2 , you just keep finding shortcuts.
No APM support in kernel. So apt-getting the wmapm and then executing it doesn't work.

P.S. I discovered this because when I reboot right after trying to execute wmapm, I notice a little message once x quits that reads "No APM support in kernel."
