This boots up just fine. Now just need to sort out how to get pcmcia working and get online
Good luck
MrSumsShould have read the complete thread. Tried the syslinux version and everything works just fine - in fact I am posting this from the fully working machine.
Question: does anyone have the video working properly? I still have the last few lines missing
MrSumsI did originally have the problem of lines off the bottom of the screen. I typed "vga=normal" in the LiveCD boot process, and DSL seems to have retained this setting once installed to the HD.
So my entire boot command was "dsl nopcmcia vga=normal" when I was booting the LiveCD.
At some stage I'm going to compile all my trials of getting it going into a blog somewhere. Hopefully it'll be a good reference for me if I have to re-install anything. Someday! The same problem in Satellite Pro 4600. DSL boots only to info about processor. In 'failsafe' or with 'nopcmcia' it boots until X is going to start. But then, again freeze. PROBABLY there is a detection of graphic card (on this Toshiba - some Trident). BUT TRIDENT DRIVER FOR LINUX DOESN'T WORK IN HERE! Even other linux distros can't run X with trident driver. (they work with vesa) SO- it is probably needed to run X with vesa or fb1024x768 mode.
so probably this should work - boot: dsl nopcmcia acpi=force fb1024x768 vga=791
I can supply you more info on my e-mail. (i will probably won't go there again)
