Hi all! First at all let me tell you thanks for this great resource, hope you can help me to fix this problem: I have a libretto 100ct with "real" DOS on it, I´ve downloaded the iso image and burn the cd, obviously the live cd does not boot because the bios laptop do not have this feature. I have created a boot floppy. Copy the KNOPPIX file on the HD Reboot the machine. DSL starts from the floppy, the boot promt appears, then click "enter" and seems starts to boot but I only can get an error saying that can´t find the KNOPPIX file or somethig similar :-( Here is the question, can I boot DSL directly from the HD? and how? Anyway all comments are welcomed, I really want to start my Linux experience with this fantastic distro. JoseYou should have copied the folder Knoppix with the file Knoppix in it. The detection stage looks for the file /KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX and not /KNOPPIX, so this is why the file on your HD was not detected. Also, make sure that you use lowercase letters. IE, copy to:
C:\knoppix\knoppix

Are you sure about that? I use all uppercase
/KNOPPIX/KNOPPIXWith DOS, any case should do. But be careful when you use the DOS mode in Windows 9x. All lowercase and all uppercase always gets treated as all uppercase, but a mixture of case will activate the long-filename capability and the name gets treated as it is.Next Page...
