Laptops :: Compaq TC1000 Tablet and usb drive issues.

I unrared the iso onto a thumb drive, and set the computer to boot off of the the thumb drive first, but it just skips over it and goes to a corrupt windows install. Telling it to ONLY boot from a usb device causes it to show no O/S found. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I have little experience with linux.
