Laptops :: Serveral ???'s About DSL Laptop Install

I have installed DSL to a Fujitsu Point 1600 (PenComputer)
I'm not using the pen functions just the basic computer itself with a kybd attached.
Use hdd install to get DSL unto the HD using a WINBlows machine. All went fairly straight forward until I tried to exit X.
My screen seemed to be larger than the screen. I mean the text just scrolled off. This makes it very difficult to edit any files.
Speaking of which can I edit a file to stop DSL from booting to X everytime I boot?

Another question I have is, What is the best DSL install procedure to use on this setup? What is the difference between 'frugal' hdd_install' 'poormans install'? This is very confusing. Can someone clarify this for me?

Sorry so long winded...
Thanks

If the screen is larger than it should be you could exit x, and at the prompt type xsetup.sh and select the resolution and color etc.

The boot code for starting dsl in text mode is 'dsl 2'. If you use a frugal install you can tell it to use this boot code everytime.

Here is a thread with lots of info about frugal.

As far as I know a Poormans install is where you copy the /knoppix/knoppix to the hd and use the cd or floppy to boot it.
