Laptops :: Laptop falis to boot DSL 1.4 Live

Hi all, a complete DSL noob here.

I have a compaq presario 700 (1.2 Ghz, 368 MB, Savage3d) laptop. I burned DSL 1.4, and when I try to boot into DSL Live, as soon as I press enter at the boot prompt,

it shows two or three lines, like loading linux, and then the next screen is just blank, nothing happens after that, no HDD activity, nothing. The laptop starts gettting a bit hot though. I tried booting with the expert option like so

boot: expert ....but the same thing happens.

Appreciate any pointers

Try typing in:

fb800x600

at the boot prompt.

ok just typing in fb800x600 -> same problem

however typing in

boot: failsafe fb800x600

goes on to the next screen and detects the processor and some other stuff right upto this line..

ACPI: Set xx to xx: Edge level set to Trigger
(i forgot what the xx were)

and then it hangs again. tried other combinations as well...no luck.

Is my laptop doomed??

try failsafe or noacpi. Sounds like it doesnt like your bios configs
