Laptops :: initial resolution problem (tochiba 200cds)

I'm installing this on an ancient laptop, (tochiba satalite 200cds)
and I would like to get the resolution for the terminal right it's ok under x but not under the terminal(it's a weird display, don't realy know the resolution/ how do i find out/ set it for terminall)

or add vga=788 to the kernel line for grub, or the append lin for lilo

(i didn't know lilo though so I set it to grub, ther's no initrd (but that's ok i guess, since it works)

Do everythin else work without tweaking? I have 200cds (without cd tho), but i'll install DSL in there too when i get my TP770 work like i want it to (won't boot from pcmcia).
