Laptops :: Boot Options...

Hello People,

I´m new to DSL and I want to understand some boot Options.

Today  I´m using TORAM to have my cdrom drive available for other use. But my Satellite 2180CDT has only 192Mb.

But I´d like to use FROMHD=/dev/hda5 and it doesnt work, but first i made a tohd=/dev/hda5

Thanks from Brazil,

NettoBr

Did you type 'dsl' in front of them? Like 'dsl fromhd=/dev/hda5'

The wiki will give you more details on these boot options.

Hello Adssse,

Let me be more specific.

First I type 'dsl vga=789 tohd=/dev/hda5'

cause I need 800x600

Then DSL boots, i can use it, and than I reboot,

Then I type 'dsl vga=789 formhd=/dev/hda5'

Boot Starts, it try to recognize USBs (I have no one)

and a message is written everytime:

Quote
Can´t find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry.

First, I wonder if i´m using tohd an fromhd in the wright way

Second, does it work for you?

Thanks,

NettoBr

As far as I can tell you're using it the right way, as long as "formhd" is a typo that you made only in this thread.

Could it be a problem with the filesystem on hda5?  Is it a linux filesystem with 50mb free?

Hello People,

Problem Solved!

There is another option not documented by DSL, bootfrom=/dev/hdax/image.iso

I'm using it now. I've downloaded Knoppix and its there is a more clear explanation there.

More, I'm using DSL 2.0rc1.... Thanks for updated firefox 1.0.6 and PCMCIA Tolls in DSL Panel

Thanks from Brazil,

NettoBr
