Laptops :: Net install issue
Hi,
I'm trying to install DSL on my laptop (32MB, 1.4GB, FDD, PCMCIA Xircom LAN/Modem, also a USB Ethernet if I need). I am running Debian on this (t is so slow !!!)
Having copied the boot img to a floppy I reboot and everything seems to be ok until it searches my HDD, not find a copy of KNOPPIX and bombs out leaving me with about 4 options only !!
How can I get the boot image to work, pick up my Xircom PCMICIA and do the net install?
All help appreciated, please remember I am noob and therefore will require "idiot proof" instructions.
Anyone know how I can speed up Debian? I know this is not the place, but apologies...I can have lunch by the time Galeon loads and go for walk by the time Mozilla does !!

Thanks,this sound like a good place to start....
Can anyone tell me, as I a noobie and did not fully comprehend the finer detaills, after I have installed the frugal.sh how can get the full install done correctly? i.e. how do I get the live cd version of it installed?

well I got the tom rtbt disk, booted up, managed to get my pcmcia card started and grab an IP address and have got hold of the frugal_lite.sh
now in the details is mentions
Now using fdisk create two linux partitions each large enough to hold DSL. I used 64MB to be safe. Could be smaller.
Format them by using:
mke2fs /dev/hda1
mke2fs /dev/hda2
HOW do I use fdisk to create the two partitions? Sorry for being ignorant but I have no idea, all I have done before using a menu based program was set up a swap space (128mb) and the rest pf my 1.4Gb as the othe drive for all my other stuff.
Can someone please advise me how to use fdisk and carry on following the instructions??
thanks
