I did apt-get install dict-gcide and dict-jargon useing old stable and did apt-get install xmms-alarm useing stable ( thanks for the tip)..these are excellent additions to a hd install..has anyone apt-get installed others with success....please share your apt-gets..have had a few  fails and think others may also like to have some goodies to get started with apt-get... english dictionary and xmms alarm are my success ..these todsl 2.2  p166 48meg ram.. also worked on dx2-66 w/48ram...thanks
Your best bet for "apt-gets" is to go to a newer computer with a decent amount of (RAM+swap) and boot from livecd.  Then do an Enable APT and then do a test installation into your ramdisk.

If it works OK, you can then repeat the process on your hd installed system.

Deleteing this rant and replaceing with a question...can I delete the files in/var/cache/apt/archive after the apt-get install or are libraries used from this directory. also unrelated can I delete the collecting files in the temp directory..this would free free up some hd space.
Sorry cbagger01..I am endlessly gratefull for the xcalc..I just botched another install attempting to add a cdripper to another antique.p166/48meg.ranting..when will I learn. you are correct..if I am going to play with apt get I am on my own and need to play safe. thanks for the reminder. did apt-get install GRIP
there is also grip.dsl

For those who like the abiword.dsl and want it to spell check I went to/etc/apt/sources.list...opened and changed oldstable to stable..saved..enabled apt and opened a terminal and typed sudo su..then typed apt-get update..then apt-get install aspell...then apt-get libenchant1...my abiword now spell checks..simple
you can go to var/cache/apt/archives and delete the deb files to free space on a small drive or move them to storage so you do not have to redownload. or turn them into a .dsl if you know how
