Apt-get :: APT-GET not working anymore...

I tried to install VLC (Video Lan Client) through APT, and although it works on my system, every time I try to use APT now I get the error "vlc: Depends: libxv1 but it is not installed"

I tried using apt-get -f install like it says, but I still get the same error, and I cannot remove VLC because I still get the error. Can anyone help me without reinstalling DSL to my HD?

if you installed DSL using Frugal install, then just delete your persitant /opt directory and restart.
