I am trying to grasp Linux as fast as I can!

I have a project involving DSL where the default usage of TinyX servers will not do, since I am trying to use broadcast and query options to connect to remote X servers.  Thus I need to install XFree86.  However, there are several choices for which Linux libs I want to use.  Which libs are used in DSL?

The xfree86.dsl in the repository for XFree86 will not work for me; vesa, svga, and mobradeon7500 crash.  Ive tried everything I can think of and find, so I would like to try a fresh XFree86.  I also need 100dpi fonts, which the .dsl package does not include.
