Some background: I have a little cottage industry business making multi-media kiosks. For software I use Macromedia's good-old linux stand-alone application "flashplayer" to play interactive flash movies that I've created for various businesses - usually used for marketing purposes.
For about a year now I've been using Knoppix on a 512M Flash card (which I modified for my use) and it works great. I decided however to go to DSL because I can use smaller (and thereby cheaper) flash cards and DRAM, and boot times are faster.
Problem is, the flash movies are slower on DSL. I don't know why either. All the hardware is exactly the same - including the flash card on which the operating system is installed. Also, it doesn't seem to make a difference whether I use "toram" cheat code nor does it matter how much ram I have.
How much slower I'm not sure, but it is noticeable enough that it makes my applications slow enough that I won't do it with DSL because some animations just get too jittery.
Any clues why DSL runs Flash movies noticeably slower than Knoppix does? It might help to know that I'm also using the XFree86 myDSL extension.
