WOW!
This is incredible. After years of paying through the nose for Microsoft operating systems, I decided to look into this "Linux" business.
I stumbled across DSL and decided to try it in my old Dell Inspiron 4000, which had suffered a catastrophic virus attack, and I couldn't reinstall XP as I did not get a disk with this comp. My local FutureShop (Best Buy here in Canada) tech said he would be thrilled to reformat my hard drive and install xp for me, at full retail price for a full version package.
Well, DSL on a live cd worked well, so I decided to try a hard drive install. For a Linux Newbie like me, it was a bit of an effort until I began to percieve some of the logic behind the command system. Now, I have DSL on hard drive that boots lightning fast. I still have some minor issues, like getting my wireless card to work, and figuring out how to change the password (made a rookie mistake during install), but this is actually fun.
I still have a lot to learn, but I can tell you that Mr. Gates will not be getting any more money from me.
To all you other lost souls out there who keep on installing xp every 30 days, give it up. Spend a little time learning how to use Linux. You don't even have to have a functioning hard drive if you use DSL.
LONG LIVE THE PENGUIN!!!
