Please bear me.
I am a new guy here but I want to try DSL. However, on the homepage there is no simple "howto" found. I didn't see a "install instructions" either. Now the first problems: I have a very old Toshiba laptop with a floppy drive and a CD ROM, but this CD ROM doesn't like anything other but windoze. I've read quite a bit here but I think very basic information is difficult to find, at least for me. (enlish is not my native language) I see "DSL installs on hard drive as Debian", where do I find how I do that? And do I need to partition the hard drive before and how? This is very basic information I could not find and which I think should be on the very first page of the DSL home page. I find it very frustrating searching for hours or days to find such info. I downloaded and burned the syslinux.iso and made the bootfloppy (bootfloppy.img) since my toshiba doesn't boot from CD. Still no luck the CD ROM isn't found DSL reports no knoppix is found. I didn't see anything about not finding a CD ROM device but the drive isn't do anything no leds no nothing.
Can someone tell me what to do first and go there step by step, the screenshots are looking good and I heard DSL runs fine on slower older hardware. Really like too see that, I really hate windoze and there corrupt politics.
