this is hardly a major bug ...

the viewer for emelfm is now set to scite %f

emelfm requires the %f parameter when you setup a button
it does not require the %f parameter  for the viewer
in fact, it will pass the %f as a parameter

for example, if you set it to scite %f and double-click a file  called readme.txt
it will work as if you had typed scite %f readme.txt
which works ok, because scite ignores the %f

if you set the viewer to beaver %f
it's as if you typed beaver %f readme.txt
which will open a tab for the file named "%f"
and another tab for a file named "readme.txt"

the reason it seems ok now
is because you changed beaver to scite
not because you changed 5f to %f

the thing is ...
in a button or user menu item you need a parameter like %f or %d
for the viewer, you need only the program name with no parameters
iit seems to work that way, anyway

Actually it has been that way for many many releases. The "beav" actually exposed it. But, as you say, it doesn't harm anything and is ignored by Scite. Obviously, I am not a GUI user, it took me a long time to even find the View button. I guess if we are down to this type of subtle "bugs" then we are doing pretty good. Thanks for such detailed inspection and report. I have removed the %f in the view section, so the next release won't "bug" you.

You are right Robert, we are down to the details. That is why when I hear people talking about doing things like moving to Knoppix 3.4, I think there is a lot to be said for having a stable OS as opposed to the latest and greatest. I prefer you and John spend your time coming up with great new ideas!!

Take care

Chris

Thanks Chris, it won't be long now, we are adding in more new ideas to give it the typical DSL "wow" factor.
