Hi,

Just figured out why my burns are suddenly failing - coastered 3 discs :-(

The DSL 0.8.2 ISO is   51425280 bytes,
DSL 0.8.1.1 ISO is 51314688 bytes, and
DSL 0.8.0 ISO is   51292160 bytes in size.

It appears that the maximum size my business card sized CDRs can handle is 51392512 bytes.

Can you release a 0.8.2.1 that is below my business card threshold?

That's only 49MB isn't it?  I think you've been ripped off.

Hi,

I've been checking the atip of my discs... and they are all over the place :-(

Some are new Ritek Co., some are Old Code Riteks, some are Multi Media Masters & Machinary SA; some read correctly as 26101 sectors (5:50min, 534548xx bytes), some as 445100 sectors (74:59min).

The good ones appear to be by Ritek Co.  I'll continue checking and post the info I find.

Hi,

I was buying my "noname" Business Card sized CD-Rs from Staples here in Canada, a 20 pack by Merangue.  Merange International Ltd. appears to import these from China, they call it their "IDROM-20PCK", the UPC code is 0-68488-02359-1.  CDRecord (1.10) mainly reports these as:

ATIP start of lead out: 26100 (05:50/00)
Disk type:    unknown
Manuf. index: 81
Manufacturer: ILLEGAL OLD CODE: Old Ritek Co.???

26100 sectors (x2048 bytes) should result in 534528xx bytes; however, after a seemingly sussessful burn, when I dd the resulting disc back to an ISO file I only get 51392512 bytes :-(

These Chinese produced discs in another Merangue 20 pack of business card sized CD-Rs also show up as: "Optical Disc Manufacturing Equipment" and "Multi Media Masters & Machinary SA", and ALL appear to have a 51392512 byte limit :-(

The few "Ritek Co." branded disks I have that did work were purchased seperately from a company which is now out of business.

I'm returning what I've left and begun to look for another supplier.

The company I work for has many thousands left in stock ..
email me at     ke4nt [at] damnsmalllinux [dot] org
Leave me your address or contact info,
and I'll see if our stock fits your needs ..

I'm not certain what brand of stock our vendor shipped us last time.
They ALL seem to come from Taiwan - even the Ritek ..
I'll find out Monday..  So far I have had no issues ...

From your other post, I'd almost think they were cut from regular CD stock !
