I'm installed on the hard drive.  I want to have remote access using VNC.  I downloaded the tightvnc distribution which is only an RPM.   There was no rpm2cpio, but I found a perl version.  Unpacked, editted inetd.conf and started and I can get a connection.  However, since no xdm/kdm is running, I don't get a login and hence no desktop, just that grey hatched background.

Any ideas?

Use the vnc extension, it's either in Apps or Net, I can't remember.

Or maybe system.

Anyhow, read the info file and follow the directions. It works very well.
