here we go
so i set up XFree86 and everything is fine then i copy my home dir and put xfree86.dsl in my /mydsl dir so then i reboot using the home=hdc2 and mydsl=hdc2 cheetcodes in my grub boot

it sets them fine and loads XFree fine

then it gets to start X and i get this message with some stuff and then it sends me to command line

xauth: timeout in locking authority file /home/dsl/.Xauthority

can someone help me out please

would i need to do a remaster to make this work

because the config file is written in /etc/X11

check the permissions of ~/.Xauthority and see if you have read/write access to the file.

ls -l ~/.Xauthority

and tell me what you get.
