Hello fellow DSL users...
Well, I am new to DSL. I have been using redhat 7 for quite a while, but decided to go with DSL due to unusable (but working) X-Windows on it. The computer im using for DSL is a IBM thinkpad 385ED , a really beautiful dinosaur. While working with the cd-boot dsl , I seemed to be able to get my X to display correctly ( but at a very unreasonable load speed ) . Now I have it installed to the HD, and cant get a working X display. The video adapter is a neomagic NM-2090 . I really love working in the CLI and wouldn't worry about the X Win, but I really need a HTTPS and SSL compatible browser, and cant seem to find a console based version. If anyone has any experience getting this ancient video card running in X, I would love to hear from you. I am considering putting an evil program on the computer , so if anyone has any ideas or anything, please e-mail me at slawdawgATgmail.com , and I will be eternally in your debt. Thanks, Kyle
Ive read about the lynx that has the SSL/HTTPS but that you have to compile it yourself. Does anyone know where I can pick up a pre-compiled package?
Also, the LILO boot loader give me BIOS error codes at the start of the load.( I switched over to GRUB and it seems to work fine.) LILO with RH didn't seem to give me this problem.
any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
