Hi,

i want to run dsl on an old p1 with 133MHz.
i got an old microsoft mouse (i think its the first one).

so ... in short my mouse won t work.

here s what i tried already :/

i tried to connect other mice.
i tried to connect to com 2 instead of com 1 and playd al little with the bios addressing.
i started win98 setup to get sure there is no hardware prob. mouse work very well in the win98 setup.
i googled around.

tried to fix the kernel message "ttys0: LSR safety check engaged!"
played around with xsetup.sh and mouseconfig.

If someone has an idea how to fix this or just where else to look 4, please tell me.
... must be crazy to spend so much time to get and old pc ready 4 the web. :>

My old Microsoft 2-button PS2 mouse would not work with the DSL xserver (Xvesa or Xfbdev).

I bought a cheap logitech mouse and it works fine.

I think you can get your existing mouse to work if you use the XFree86.dsl extension from the MyDSL repository.

The only way to know for sure is to give it a try.

thx for the reply but there are 2 probs.

1st one, i got no ps2 interface ... just serial
2nd one is, i could not find out how to use DSL without a mouse... so i can t get access to the menu by clicking the right mouse button.

i m glad about every hint how to fix this issue.

You can boot DSL in text mode, where mouse isn't needed..

Download the XFree86.dsl extension in some other machine (or if you can, download it in text mode..) and then boot DSL in text-mode, and install XFree86.dsl. Then setup xfree86, and startx. Mouse should work.
