Hi,

I'd like to use Synergy with my DSL boxes. Synergy is a software that enables keyboard and mouse sharing among several computers (See http://sourceforge.net/projects/synergy2)

When trying to run the client (synergyc) DSL tells me that "cannot run binary file". Checking the synergy documentation I've found that it requires X Windows version 11 revision 4 or up with XTEST extension. I've used xdpyinfo and it seems that DSL uses version 11.0 and has indeed XTEST installed.

I'm not 100% sure but I guess that this is the problem. So I wonder how could I upgrade X11.0 to X11R4? I've tried apt-get upgrade and it doesn't seem to work. apt-get's help doesn't help me either.

Then I've visited www.freedesktop.org and apparently there are 2 different alternatives, either Xorg or Xfree86 (?) Which one uses DSL?

How could we check the impact in memory of X11R4? If it is too big, asking for an upgrade in next DSL's version would be unfeasible.

Thanks in advanced!

There is a synergy extension in the .UNC area.  It needs to be ran with DSL 3.0 or newer.  You can find it here - http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub....3.1.unc - It should work with the standard xvesa server included with DSL.

"cannot run binary file" is often the result of a file simply not having executable permission or a file that cannot be run by the chosen interpreter.

I've tried JB4x4's link but I don't know what to do with it (?)
It looks like... a small script with an encoded binary?

Please, help me. I'd like to try it!

Milkshaw, the error happened running as root using the usual DSL terminal available in the desktop. Any idea?

Sorry about that. If you have internet access and DSL 3.1RC2, Just click the MyDSL icon on the Desktop, UNC, and select the synergy package.  Otherwise right-click the link above, and select "Save Link As...".  After downloading, transfer the file to your DSL box, select MyDSL (on the Desktop), and "Local Load"

Hope this helps, JB
