I can't seem to get a pptp client to work on my DSL installation. I've enabled apt and synamptic to download the PPTP-LINUX software. The description says to install the package "patch-kernel-mppe". I can't install this package because when I type "apt-get install patch-kernel-mppe" I get an error about not being able to find the package. It looks like the default debian kernal does NOT have MPPE compiled in the kernel. I even tried just downloading the .deb file for pptp-linux. When I tried to install that, it says it needs a dependancy. After I install the dependancy the patch-kernel-mppe installs fine, then I can install the pptpclient software. But the pptp-client will not connect to the VPN server. I'm not sure what I've done wrong. Please let me know what I have missed.
