Hey everyone,
Finally got round to downloading DSL/Live CD & the embedded version & i'm actually quite surprised by it. I've been a long time user of MS OS's, from DOS/3.11 - XP.
I really want to learn to use this & possibly migrate to Linux. I want to know a few things.

I want to be able to run DSL from the CD but have a partition on my external USB Hard disc if thats possible.

Are there any websites you can point me towards for instructions on how to install/run programs as i heard (and it could be wrong) that you have to compile programs before you can install them.

My net connection is wireless, how complex will it be to get my Linksys WUSB54GS working with DSL? (it works streight out of the box from the embedded version of DSL)

Will it be possible for me to run DSL & still access certain files on the windows side? like .jpgs & .mp3's? So i don't have to copy them over to the DSL partition.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you guys.

hi...welcome to linux. you should have no problem running liveCD and accessing your USB drive and your winblows files. as for the wireless card, i don't know about that particular card, but if you post the question in the networking section, i'm sure someone can help you. as far as running/installing program DSL has one of the easiest sytems out there. using .dsl and .uci programs is a breeze, and you can even customize your own liveCD to include your favorite apps. all of this info and more is available on the wiki and here in the forum. just use the "search" function. :) good luck and welcome to DSL........

Welcome to DSL

Installing programs is easy. There is a mydsl icon on the desktop, from which you can choose the program you want to install and it is done automatically....   :)

You can access files from your windows partition, but first you have to mount your windows partition. .
