Let me preface this with I am reasonably new to linux...

I have an image on an embedded device, a TC-10 from earthlcd. It's based on DSL, version 0.9.1, which has been upgraded to kernel 2.6.9 from knoppix.

I have downloaded several driver sets from lilliput.cn (egalax.com.tw), they have a driver set for debian based linux (as well as fedora, mandrake, etc). I have also downloaded and loaded the dsl packages for Xfree86-devel, Tcl/Tk, and GCC. All appear to have installed cleanly, no errors.

When I try to build the touch screen drivers, I get an error about tcl: command not found.

I found a page, (http://tzilla.is-a-geek.com/articles/egalax/), where installation is discussed, but it makes no mention of this error, and in fact goes about installing the drivers starting with the Fedora core versions, requiring the kernel source, modification of the install files and such.

Does anybody have some pointers? Experiences?

Thanks in advance, Paul

Are you using the DSL version of tcl/tk or the UCI extension?  If so, please read the INFO file:

Thank you, cbagger01. Your comment helped, plus pointing me to tcl/tk 8.4 rather than 8.3 like I had. The 8.4 just mounts temporarily, rather than modifying the entire system, which is nice.

However, that got me through the first build process, but now when I try to do the next step as outlined by the driver install text, it fails wanting the XFree86 source. I loaded XFree86.dsl, XFree86-devel.dsl, both with no avail. (both execute for a bit, then return to the command prompt with no output)

I am a little unsure now whether this is even running XFree86? I saw a post somewhere, and with all of the questions about loading XFree86, is there a "XFree86"-lite version?

Is the source included in the normal DSL image, or in the dsl additions? I have looked through the directories, and found /etc/X11R6/include/X11/ which is full of header files, but I can't find the code.

Thanks,

I don't use Xfree86, so I am not much help there.

DSL does not include XFree86, or the source code for it.  I would expect to see it as part of the development package.  Otherwise, you could enable apt-get and use it to download/install the source code.
