bootlocal.sh is run at specified runlevels.  Look in /etc/rc*.d/

powerdown.sh is run from /etc/init.d/knoppix-halt or /etc/init.d/knoppix-reboot, depending on whether you halt (runlevel 0) or reboot (runlevel 6).
