Hi

I use DSL 3.2 with Fluxbox 0.9.11 and the SVGA-XServer.  But I have one problem: I can't write german special characters like ä ö ü or ß. Instead it writes []@ and \. I think thats a part of the american keyset, but I load 'de' in kbdconfig and tried 'de-latin1' and 'de-latin1-nodeadkeys' too without any result. All other keys works correctly for the german keyboard.

Is the other XServer the problem? And how can I solve this?

Thanks!

Did you make sure you restarted X after?

If it still doesnt work, did you try other keymaps?

Otherwise these links might help...

If nothing still works, you could hardcode the key values to xmodmap.

Well, after some reboots I saw, that I can write ö ä ü in bash and before x startet a keyset was loaded. I delete the entry from bootlocal.sh and now it works! :)

BUT: In XChat I can write ö ä and ü but i can't receive them. In the serverwindow is written: "ICONV Conversation from character set 'ISO-8859-1' to 'UTF-8' is not supportet". When I start XChat from bash it says: "Gdk-Warning **: Error Converting from UTF-8 to String: Conversation from Character set 'UTF-8' to 'ISO-8859-1' is not supported".
But how can I install the ISOs and/or where can I change the default system character set?  ???

You can try changing your font encoding in xchat if that's supported...
or you could try downloading them from apt or somewhere.
