I'd like to fire up my desktop machines with NumLock turned on immediately.

Is this a WM setting, or a DFM setting, or an X setting?

Can someone offer up the line I'd have to add and to which init file please?

Much thanks,
John

Usually there's a bios setting that you can enable for that.
I've also compiled a dummy X program to turn numlock on for certain login sessions before.

Can I get that from you please?

What's the significance of the word 'dummy' in that phrase?

Not sure where where the source is... I think I just grabbed it off a mailinglist via google.
I just called it a dummy program because (iirc) it just called some x testing extension/function or something like that.  (probably not the right word)
