Agus is correct. You don't need to reinstall...just edit a couple of files. Use /sbin/getty instead of /bin/bash in /etc/inittab. /.bash_profile should be edited to remove the lines concerning "su dsl" (or just delete that file if it will make things easier). /home/dsl/.bash_profile should be edited to remove the lines concerning "startx". You will also need to set up passwords if you haven't already done this.
This works for me, but another user has expressed that it didn't work for him, so it apparently isn't a universal solution.
